Young Girl Attempts to Pay Off School’s Lunch Debt with Lemonade Stand
Debt is something not many children think of, but a second-grader in Hayden, Idaho has her sights set on paying off all the school lunch debt at her school and others in Idaho’s Coeur d’Alene Public School District.
She aims to do this one glass of lemonade at a time.
Amiah Van Hill started “Lemonade 4 Lunch” to aid families in need with lunch costs. Inititally, in her first weekend, Amiah raised about $40 which was enough to pay the lunch debt at three local schools.
However, this highly motivated 6-year-old was not happy with the $40 she made in her first weekend and wanted to help out on a bigger scale. She set a new goal of $23,000 to work towards, in order to completely pay off the entire lunch debt of the school district!
With the help of her mom, Amiah will be continuing to raise money through the use of her lemonade stand, as well as a recently launched GoFundMe campaign to raise enough money to reach her goal. So far, the GoFundMe has raised $4,313!
