Ryley Ferguson, 15, was walking his two dogs when he saw Reggie, a 15-month-old toddler, fall into a canal. Acting on pure instinct, he quickly dived in as the toddler disappeared under the water. “I was pretty calm but the water was so cold, my heart was racing,” said Ryley.

Reggie’s mom, Rebecca, arrived soon after. She had just been working in the garden when her little boy wandered into the canal behind their home. “I keep saying Ryley is our guardian angel, he saved my boy and saved my life,” said Rebecca.

Rebecca nominated Ryley for Pride of Britain. “I think he really deserves it,” she said. A neighbor also set up a GoFundMe page for Riley, raising £1,000. However, Ryley refused any donations, and is giving it to the NHS charity instead.

“Our town is extremely fortunate to have a lad like Ryley. He’s a hero and he deserves to be recognized as such,” said local Councillor Tom Gordon.
