‘Stranger Things’ Star Visiting Fans Who Share Rare Birth Defect

This young star of ‘Stranger Things’ is helping fans who have the same birth defect he does!

Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin in the hit series on Netflix, has cleidocranial dysplasia.

The rare genetic condition affects his bones and teeth.

In the show, character Dustin is quoted saying;

“I’ve told you a million times, my teeth are coming in. It’s called cleidocranial dysplasia.”

Gaten, speaking of the defect said:

“That’s why most of my teeth are still baby teeth, and they don’t come in properly. I’m going to have to get a lot of surgeries and braces.”

The nonprofit foundation CCD Smiles was created alongside Gaten in 2016. The CDD Smiles charity fund dental care and CCD research.

“A lot of people can’t afford dental surgery, or have a lot of issues – so we’re here to help them get their smiles back with dental surgeries or any other surgeries they may need” — Gaten Matarazzo

The 15-year-old made his own first huge donation to CCD Smiles, saying:

“I have everything I need, you know, so I thought why not help other people who need it?”

One of the beneficiaries of the Smiles program is overwhelmed by his support, saying, “I am finally going to have a full set of pretty teeth.”
