Selfless Teen/Hero Makes Daily Trips To Clean Dirty Road Signs And Cut Back Town’s Hedges

Joseph Beer from Chatteris in Cambridgeshire, England, is a 15-year-old teenage boy with autism annoyed by road signs left dirty and hedges overgrown during the lockdown.

He has become a local hero after doing an amazing job of cleaning them all. He noticed dozens of neglected street signs and hedgerows while out on his daily walks with his mother (Lisa).

He soon decided he wanted to clean up the streets. With the help of his dad, he rigged up a trailer to fix to the back of his bike and started peddling around the streets near his house.

Joseph scrubbed street signs that had been left almost unreadable due to moss growing over them. In other places, hedges have become neglected hazards left to grow until they almost completely obscure road direction signs from view.

One kind neighbor, who Joseph’s family did not even know, was so impressed by his selfless service, that she set up a GoFundMe page to reward him.

Almost every day, Joseph wakes up, determined to do more tidying up as his efforts are being recognized and appreciated.
