Over 60 vulunteers come together to help a homeless veteran move into his childhood home


A homeless veteran in Indianapolis is moving into his childhood home, thanks to hard work of local volunteers.

U.S. Air Force veteran Michael Malone inherited his childhood home from his mother after she died, but the house was in desperate need of repairs. He didn’t have a way to pay for them and wound up living in a facility for homeless veterans.

More than 60 volunteers with the Home Depot Foundation and the Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation have been fixing up the home so that Malone “can move back in and get going again.”

Volunteers plan to wrap up renovations this week and then purchase Malone new furniture.

Malone said he feels blessed and is grateful for the overwhelming support from the community.

“This just blows me away that there are people that are really truly that kind,” Malone told FOX 59. “It absolutely restores my view of humanity.”
