An Irish judge has been given praise for excusing a 54-year-old man from jury duty for the nicest reason.
The man had revealed he had planned a long weekend away with his partner, and that it was his ‘first time in love’
Sarah Jane Murphy, who is a journalist relayed the exchange that took place in a court in Dublin on Monday.
She shared the exchange with her followers on Twitter, however it has since gone viral, gaining thousands of retweets.
“Man: I can’t serve; I’m away for weekend.
Judge: We don’t sit at weekends.
Man: I’m away till Monday. I’m 54, a bachelor & it’s my 1st time in love.
Judge: Then you GO and you GO with my blessing.
It was truly an epic moment”
Sarah-Jane revealed that the man was hesitant at first, however as he delivered his reason for not being able to serve he gained confidence as he went on.
“The judge broke into a broad smile and the man walked away grinning,” she revealed, “The woman beside me turned to me and said, ‘Did I imagine that?'”
Twitter users have been doing what they do best, and making comments about the exchange and how it’s similar to the romantic comedy by Richard Curtis, Love Actually.
“Is this the ending to Love Actually II?” said one Twitter user, while another tweeted, “This honestly sounds like the ending to a film and it’s lovely!”
Another added, “Guilty of ‘Love In The First Degree’, perhaps?”
