Barber Forms Amazing Special Connection With Boy With Autism
In Quebec’s Abitibi-Témiscamingue region, a barber claims his phone has been ringing off the hook for the past few days…
The reason for this is a photo of him lying on the floor with a young boy who has autism went viral online.
The barber, called Franc Jacob managed to find ways to help distract and relax Wyatt Lafrenière, who has autism and is hypersensitive when it comes to having his hair touched.
Although Jacob has many regular customers with autism, Wyatt is the youngest!
Spending more than an hour with every one of his young autistic customers, Jacob says:
“I lock the front door. It has to stay quiet, I understood that with Wyatt I have to follow him around the salon with my tools to finish the cut.”
A photo taken by the mother of Wyatt, with Franc Jacob lying on the floor to finish off Wyatt’s haircut has over a million views on the image sharing site Imgur.
Fauve Lafrenière, Wyatt’s mother, told the CBC
“Usually hairdressers sort of panicked” when they saw her son walk through the door. He takes care of everything, and I don’t even get involved. It takes a load off my shoulders, he welcomes him like his best friend. To see that he accepts these differences is just fantastic.”
The well-loved hairdresser says he’s ‘touched’ that of all the glamorous photos he shares on his social media sites, the photo of him and Wyatt that people are reacting to the most and makes him happiest.
Since the photo went viral, Franc has been called an “everyday hero” by people far and wide, as well as locally, for the work he puts in for customers who have special needs.
“When I read that this morning, I cried, I don’t see myself like that, but I’m just doing my best all the time here for my community.”
